‘Youth should develop self-confidence’

Former CBI Director D. R. Kaarthikeyan has urged youth to develop self confidence and chart a course of progress with commitment and conviction.

Distributing higher education assistance to poor students at a function organised by Lions Foundation District 324-B2, here on Sunday, the Advisor to Law – Human Responsibilities – Corporate Affairs, Kaarthikeyan said that the future of the country was in the hands of such committed youths, a majority of our population. Hard work and self confidence would bring laurels to all.

He further asked them to take an oath that they would not support corruption at any cost.

Corruption had permeated into various levels and it played a major role in preventing the benefits of government schemes reaching the poor beneficiaries. Those who could not lead a hunger-free life resorted to violence.

They became rich fodder to terrorism and such a development should be stopped.

He said that police never would support terrorism and had never produced a terrorist. The population itself was an asset for the country and it should be transformed into major source for its development.

In fact senior citizens were also depending on the youths who must have the resources to lead the country, he said.

Salem City Police Commissioner Sunil Kumar Singh presided over the function.
