New Gokulam Speciality Hospital Inagurated

Providing quality healthcare to poor and needy is the social responsibility of doctors, said Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam.

Inaugurating the new 180-bed Sri Gokulam Speciality Hospital here on Wednesday, the Minister said that Salem like other metros should ensure good medicare to all for which speciality treatments in the fields such as cardiology, neurology etc was essential.

He said that Kalaignar Health Insurance Scheme had saved many lives. He also listed out various health schemes which the DMK government had initiated. The Minister also pointed out that Tamil Nadu had emerged as a major healthcare provider in the world today.

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare S Gandhi Selvan, who presided over the inaugural function, said that the welfare schemes of the DMK government were lauded by one and all.

“Many schemes such as the Health Insurance Scheme have attracted the attention of other States in the country and many others have evinced keen interest in it,” he said. Soon the health insurance scheme would be extended all over the country, he added.

Hospital Managing Director Dr. K Arthanari assured quality healthcare in all speciality fields saying that advanced medicare equipment had been erected and renowned physicians would be brought to provide treatment.

Secretary, Department of Environment and Forests, V. Irai Anbu, Collector J. Chandrakumar, Dr. MGR Medical University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mayilvahanan Natarajan, Salem Periyar University Vice-Chancellor K Muthuchelian, Salem Mayor J. Rekha Priyadarshini, Chennai Police Deputy Commissioner Sakthivelu and others spoke.
