The Kingfisher Airlines, which is operating the passenger service from Salem to Chennai has now started the cargo services from Septemper 4th 2010.

The cargo services will be handled by the same ATR craft which is used for Passenger service. Upto 1000kg of cargo can be handled by this aircraft to and from per day.

The service was implemented by Kingfisher Airways, after a long kept demand by Traders around Salem City and its District. Especially the flower traders who are sending their flowers from Salem to other parts of India. The flowers can now reach its destination within few hours from Salem to cities like Mumbai, New Delhi etc by connecting  services from Chennai.
