A team from Labour Department raided shops in Salem city, Attur, Thammampatti and Omalur and found many irregularities in small shops that sell eatables and other items.

The team led by Labour Inspector V. Rajaraman covered nearly 160 shops including bakeries and found many violations in rules and measures. They also initiated legal action against 67 such shops for violating rules while selling packaged commodities. The raids would continue, the team had warned.
