The cement slabs covering the storm water drain, which is being used as pavement by patients, on the premises of Salem Government Medical College Hospital are missing.
The hospital has pucca storm water drainage system that the rain water collected inside the premises could be drained out immediately.
Cleaning
Whenever the channel gets choked, the staff from Salem Corporation would remove the slab to clear it. But after the job, the hospital staff claim, they would forget to put it back. “This has left a gaping hole in which many have visitors have fallen,” says a senior hospital worker.
Meanwhile garbage heaps also could be found within the hospital campus for weeks waiting to be cleared.
The hospital management insists on the Salem Corporation to carry out the cleaning works without fail.
