A majority of contract workers in Tamil Nadu Magnesite Limited, a State Government undertaking and Dalmiya Magnesite began indefinite strike on Monday demanding the implementation of 6 {+t} {+h} Pay Panel recommendations.

The workers and employees claimed that despite their repeated requests, the managements of both factories had failed to redress their grievances.

Wage revision

Wage revision, job security and promotions were denied to more than 1,300 workers of two units.

They also convened agitations near the units on Monday.

They pointed out that they along with their family members would stage a dharna in front of Collectorate on August 23.
