State Ministers Veerapandi S. Arumugam and M. R. K. Panneerselvam inspected the on-going construction work of the Rs. 139-crore Super Speciality Hospital here on Thursday.
The Ministers, accompanied by officials from Department of Health including Health Secretary V. K. Subburaj and Collector J. Chandrakumar, went around the hospital.
They also held a closed door meeting with the construction team of the project for nearly 30 minutes.
The Ministers pointed out a few deficiencies such as the delay in the erection of lift facilities and asked the contract firm to rectify the same. They also suggested a few changes.
The construction, they said, should be completed by August 15 so that it should be ready for opening on August 20 by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
Later the Health Minister also held a detailed discussion with the doctors about the faculty recruitment and other equipment needs for the new hospital coming up on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
