Salem Mayor, Tmt.Rekha Priyadarshini, submitted the Salem Corporations Budget 2010 on March 25th.
The Salient Features of the Budget follows:
*TN Govt Approved Rs.283.09 crores for an exclusive Drinking water Scheme to Salem City, for uninterrupted 24/7 Drinking water supply.
*Modern Septic Water Treatment Plant
*Modern Electric Crematorium to be opened soon in Kaakayan Crematorium.
*Modern Butcher stalls to be setup soon
*Additional 1.5 crores for Underground Sewage Project
*50 lakhs approved for Upgrading the Mud roads to Tar Roads under Salem II scheme
* 20lakhs approved to Install High mast lamps in important junctions of Salem Roads
* Installing Digital Display Monitors for Bus Information with the help of Private Companies in Central Bus Stand.
* 50lakhs approved for Rest area in Old Bus Stand.
* Rs.25 Crores for Basic Amenities in Salem Corporation Schools
* Rs.25 lakhs for Renovation of Nehru KalaiaArangam
* Rs.84 lakhs for Laying Tar Road in Kumargiri Hill Temple.

the budget was really disappointing as nothing new plans has beeen introduced regarding to infrastructure development in he city
