Salem once was the destination for movie shooting with some large studios like Modern theater and Ratna studios.

Later after some years, all the cinema house moved to chennai. After that, there wasn’t much shootings happened around salem, except one or two movies of bhagayaraj and sivakumar.

Again during 2008 Vijay’s Kuruvi movie shooting held near karuppur(burn standard &co) mine area, most part of this movie was shot around this location.

Now a Salem Based Director Razzaq, has brought his film unit to shoot his latest venture Pa.Ra.Palanisamy. The main lead role is done by veteran dance master and Prabhudeva’s father Mr.Sundaram. Hero and heroine are new face.

This shooting is happening for the past 10 days in various locations like Nehru KalaiArangam, Defunct Hotel Kalinga in agraharam and Hotel South Gate in Seelanaickenpatti.

Other than this, Sathyaraj starrer film, Gowravargal is said to be shot entirely in Salem. This movie unit is yet to commence its shooting.

Let us hope Salem will turn again as Movie Makers Favorite spot.
