Signature campaign against violence
A unique campaign to get the signatures of people in Salem against the growing cult of violence in the country was launched here on Saturday.
Organised by the Salem Diocesan Youth Commission of Epiphany’s Pastoral and Communication Centre, a group of volunteers were dispatched at various places such as the integrated bus stand and the railway junction to get the signatures of the public to make them participate in the crusade against growing violence in the country.
The volunteers also distributed pamphlets carrying details on violence in the country and formed human chain to highlight the objective of their campaign.
Schoolchildren took part in the exercise with much enthusiasm. They said that nearly 40,000 people during 1990-2006 were killed in various activities of violence.
